The Mercedes Benz C220 is a model of the C-Class, which is a popular series of luxury cars manufactured by Mercedes Benz. The ESL (Electronic Steering Lock) is a component in the vehicle's steering system that provides an additional layer of security. It is designed to prevent unauthorized starting of the car by locking the steering wheel electronically when the car is turned off and the key is removed from the ignition.

In some cases, there have been issues reported with the ESL in certain Mercedes Benz models, including the C220, where the steering lock malfunctions, leading to difficulties in starting the vehicle. When this occurs, it may require repairs or replacement by a certified Mercedes Benz mechanic or dealership.
